Win By Submission #2

Introduction

The first edition of "Win By Submission" (WBS) was held in july 2009. The tournament was very successful and the participants were waiting for the next edition of WBS.
Medina Grappling will continue to spread the sports Brazilian jiu jitsu and Grappling on the island to make people more familiar with these sports.

Tournament rules

Because of the different fighting schools which will participate it is not possible for fighters of other fighting schools who are not familiar with Grappling or BJJ rules to adapt to rules concerning a point system. Because of this we will judge the fighters on performance such as activity and passivity, avoiding the fight, going off the mat on purpose, fighting (un)fair. But a fighter can always win by SUBMISSION!

Important note!
We have put several rules of which some might seem "unnecessary" to some fighters, but you must realize that these rules are set by fighters who are experienced in these sports and have thousands of hours "mat" time under their belt. They have seen the most frequent and common injuries that occur during Grappling or BJJ dependent of one's knowledge and level in these sports. Always keep in mind that the rules are made to protect you and your opponent so that everyone can go home satisfied.

Permitted Techniques

Chokes, arm bars, controlling holds, leg lock only the straight lock on the Achilles tendon.

Not Permitted Techniques

Slamming your opponent on the mats, biting, fish hooking, eye picking, kicking or striking, twisting fingers or toes, wrist locks, knee locks, foot locks, ankle locks, insulting opponent, holding onto clothes of the opponent, neck cranks, throwing while holding the neck of opponent.
DON'T INJURE YOUR OPPONENT ON PURPOSE ALWAYS RESPECT YOUR OPPONENT AND GIVE HIM TIME TO TAP OUT!

Referee

For the safety of our participants we will have referees who have a lot of experience in Martial arts and have a high degree in martial arts particularly in (ground) fighting sports like Brazilian jiu jitsu, Grappling or Judo.

Clothes and protection

Clothes: Short without sacks are allowed: Grappling shorts, Thai boxing shorts,  Karate or judo pants, Rash guards short or long sleeves. Protection: mouthpiece and groin protector.

Divisions

Once we have a global view of the amount of contestants we can make the different weight divisions. We will also create an absolute division in which you can fight anyone even heavier without having the limitation of weight. But only contestants who won their own weight division can participate in the absolute division.
